Jayden Franco is a fun and fearless 6-year-old who lives with his mom and dad in Carlsbad, NM. Jayden is currently homeschooled by his mom but is getting ready to go to public school starting in August. When Jayden was about one and a half years old, he was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This disorder along with non-verbal communication and an intellectual disability has created unique challenges for Jayden and his family. Despite these challenges, Jayden always radiates with a smile on his face spreading happiness wherever he goes.
Since he was little, Jayden has always been passionate about animals! Whether it is a show, song, or the real-deal Jayden is always happiest when his activities include animals in some way. His favorite animal is horses. You will often find him riding, feeding, or petting one of these gentle creatures. But that doesn’t mean he still doesn’t enjoy hanging out with chickens and goats when he gets the chance!
Jayden also enjoys playing outside. During the summer months he can be found in the pool cooling off and playing with his family. He has no fear of anyone or anything. While this means many adventures during playtime, it also means an added fear to his parents and loved ones. Jayden thrives on routine and when that routine changes, he experiences major anxiety sometimes resulting in exaggerated tantrums or running away.
The older Jayden gets, the faster and stronger he becomes. Outings are more difficult as Jayden will often run into the street faster then his parents can catch him. His love of swimming and pools often create a safety issue as Jayden will often search for things of comfort when he attempts to run away. In efforts to help keep Jayden safe and avoid accidents, Jayden and his family are now in the process of getting an Autism Support Dog.
An Autism Support Dog would help Jayden by coping with situations that cause heightened anxiety. It would act as a comforting anchor when his routine must change. When he needs to stay with other family members such as his grandparents, his support dog will be there to provide comfort when his parents cannot. His support dog could help prevent wandering or keep him safe if he ever does wander and alert his parents of his whereabouts.
Jayden and his family are now seeking support and contributions in order to help others learn of Jayden’s story and raise the necessary funds for an Autism Support Dog. An Autism Support Dog will give Jayden comfort and support as well as provide a sense of relief and security for his parents. Jayden and his family thank you in advance for all the support you have to offer.
