Have you ever thought about being a puppy raiser for a future service dog? Well, here’s your chance! This is your opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life and in the life of a dog.
The Puppy Raiser family shares their home with the dog, teaching it to be a good citizen. This involves house-training the pup, teaching it basic obedience and most importantly, socializing the pup and exposing it to everyday activities such as shopping, riding a bus, going to church, soccer games, getting used to all types of people and animals, etc. The formal service dog training begins once it meets the standard requirements and returns to Golden Healer Service Dogs, generally 1 year to 18 months.
Have you wanted to get involved with making an impact on someone’s life but don’t have a lot of time to commit? Being a puppy sitter may be the perfect solution for you. Our puppy sitters will have the same training and obligation as a puppy raiser but less time commitment. Puppy sitters help tend our puppies in training when our puppy raisers are traveling or on vacation.
We are always looking for talented volunteers who would like to donate their time and talents to help our organization. Whether you are a photographer, designer, dog trainer, or just an individual who enjoyes making a difference your help will be greatly appreciated! We often hold events for fundraising efforts. Volunteers are also greatly appreciated to help set-up, run, and assist with these events.
We’re always excited to work with our sponsors and add new ones. Thank you for your interest in becoming a Golden Healer Service Dogs sponsor. We look forward to hearing from you. Please complete and submit the form below to get started. We’ll contact you to follow-up.
